Band Bio: ALIAS JOHN BROWN ARTIST BIO
Born May 4th 1982, in Chicago Illinois, Alias John Brown was introduced to hip-hop at an early age by his family. Alias John Brown derived from a friend that was making fun of him because he was reading about John Brown the Abolitionist, everyone around him started calling him that name and thus he responded to it. AJB started rapping at 12 and started recording songs at the age of 16 with Tommy Skillfingers and Pretty Boi Floyd.
Alias John Brown formed a group called CONCEALED WEAPONS, his brother, Q- Billah joined the ranks and the group evolved into the original ANIMAL HOUSE. This group started recording in 1998-1999, executive produced the projects and released them released 2 maxi singles under the names of the Brown Brothers in 2000-2001. After that Q-Billah and AJB released Hello, the mix-tape, both were ready to start making their own solo songs.
In [2003] Alias John Brown then started working with Jacki Muhammad R.I.P and Chris Muhammed [the sick one] and getting tracks from legendary producer No I.D. AJB Traveled to the Bay Area and worked with Darren Charles, Ray Murray, Kyle and Taj Mahal on his first solo release THE UNDERGROUND RAILROAD [2005].
Linking up with Dug Inf meeting DJ Devro from the Demolition Men and Mr. Maliguti from Sureshot Militia in [2004], creating TALES FROM THE NO COAST [2006]. Working with producers like Aristotle, DJ Presyce, Tony Baines and Sean Jordan, gave AJB the opportunity to have a wide variety of beats to sharpen his lyrical blades and give him enough beats to get on the mix-tape scene from the Bay Area back to Chicago.

SAN FRANCISCO BAY GAURDIAN ARTICLE
After grinding in the Bay for the past three years, Chicago native Alias John Brown has cranked up his buzz due to a recent tour with Andre Nickatina and this 24-track anthology of new songs, singles, and freestyles. Combining gravelly vocals with smooth, rapid-fire flows, AJB defies characterization: he's "an educated thug," he suggests on "Certified Mobsters," at ease among gangstas Amp Pachino and The Jacka though perhaps more at home dropping lines such as "We done put in more work than a sharecropper / But we ain't gettin' our fair share of the proper" alongside Planet Asia on "State to State.
" AJB charts an independent course, eschewing brand-name filler and dull bling in favor of timeless hip-hop themes, from partying ("Tear the Club Up") to a friend's violent death ("Dante"). Instead of jumping on the yellow bus for local credit, AJB never once cries "hyphy," though the up-tempo bounce of "Catch Yo Breath" would fit in nicely alongside recent hits by, say, Mistah FAB.
