Band Bio: Edmonton’s Dahlia Wakefield has the sort of voice that grabs you immediately. A natural performer since age five, a high-ranking finalist in several international songwriting competitions and a Grant MacEwan Music Program graduate, Canadian singer/songwriter Dahlia Wakefield is a standout talent with one EP and two full-length CDs (Close to Home and Down This Road) released on her independent music label, Squirrelly Girl Music. Dahlia’s music is eclectic, featuring catchy hooks, heart-felt lyrics and memorable melodies. Dahlia artfully combines pop, rock and modern country with a bluesy, edgy kick, reminiscent of a mix between Jann Arden, Jewel, Stevie Nicks, Sheryl Crow, Bonnie Raitt, Sass Jordan and Shania Twain. With a voice capable of interesting complexity, This powerhouse vocalist spans easily from angelic and sensitive one moment to raunchy and gutsy the next. Dahlia’s rich voice and contemporary-with-roots style allows her music to fit comfortably into almost any play-list, program, podcast or compilation CD. No stranger to the stage, Dahlia always delivers her very best, charming and capturing audiences’ hearts everywhere. For many years, Dahlia has given her time and talent to perform at telethons, showcases, and festivals.
