Band Bio: The Discount Heroes like sandwiches. The long roll holding everything together are Frank Taraglia (lead vocals) and Rob Ogus (guitars, backing vocals). The meat consists of Joe “Brown” Tartaglia (drums), Ron Bauman (lead guitar), and Ian Alderman (bass). Headquartered in South Philadelphia , you can usually get a bite of The Discount Heroes at Connie’s Ric Rac on 9th Street. What started out as an acoustic duo of Frankie and Rob has grown into a full band ensemble with other part-time multi-instrumentalists lending their talents. The early days of The DH consisted of writing and practicing songs at Joe Sr.'s fruit stand during the day and performing at local open mics at night. The duo soon began landing gigs at local venues like Fergie's Pub, Lickety Split, and The Tritone. To play larger venues and add more depth to their sound, Frankie and Rob decided to expand to a full band in late 2007. The present line-up finds itself playing music clubs such as The NorthStar Bar, The Fire, Piano's (NYC) and Club Rehab (NYC). The Discount Heroes were also featured on Comcast Cable’s "Battle Of The Bands" during this time. The DH recently recorded their soon to be released first EP, "Who Are The Discount Heroes" in 2008 at Sine Studios in Philadelphia. The band is currently playing in support of this release and writing songs for an upcoming rock opera set in the Italian Market section of Philadelphia. The Discount Heroes rock n roll headquarters is Connie's Ric Rac, 1132 South 9th Street, South Philly, PA 19147. It is the hottest music venue in the Philly right now, and it's only BYOB venue.
