Band Bio: OUTHOUSE explores ambient worlds where the organic meets the electronic. Using loops, beats and processed textures as a base and layering in worldly percussion and melodies OUTHOUSE creates rich environments of sound & groove that can be utilized in a number of ways.(relaxation, mood, yoga, meditation, tantra) Focusing on Downtempo Dub, & Chillout varieties of electronica and cross pollinating them with World music and Urban rhythms gives the band a wide varieties colors and textures to build their universe. Outhouse debuts 2 CD’s simultaneously. The First HANG SESSIONS is based around an amazing instrument called the “Hang”. Produced in Switzerland for only a few years the Hang instrument combines elements of both Gamelan gongs and Steel Drums. Keyboardist, Producer and Writer Mark Rechler & Percussionist/Drummer George Hooks layered the Hangs often looping and occasionally processing them through effects and proceeded to build songs around those loops as a framework. To further inspire the direction of the pieces they scored the music to Yoga Flow videos and worked with instructors on what they are looking for in inspiring yet hip music for a class. This scenario set up a framework where the music builds in tempo and intensity throughout and than brings you down perfectly again for shivasana or ultimate relaxation. Soma Diploma was also scored to a Flow Yoga class but with a more advanced and intense one, which reflects musically. Soma Diploma explores a different part of the galaxy as well, crossing Indian and Asian influences with electronica and ambient textures. Soma is the moon God, A Sacred ancient Drink of the Gods, and also referenced in Aldus Huxley’s Brave New World as a drug which puts one in the state of Ecstasy. Soma Diploma gets downright kicking at times and is unafraid to explore darker territories.   Read Less »
