Band Bio: South Africa's guitar bombshell, Sky Vega is a spunky pop-rock singer/songwriter. With cd credits under her belt in Europe, she is fresh in New York, performing her edgy originals with The Sky Band on the local indy scene. Recently, Sky released the video for her single "Special" which is in rotation on AIR 104.4 FM, an affiliate of the BBC & other EU radio stations. 'Special' is available on itunes, Amazon, Rhapsody, etc. Her charismatic stage demeanor and melodic hooks coupled with her ability to write meaningful lyrics make it easy to understand why this singer/songwriter has international appeal. She has worked with respected Greek producer Kostas Kalimeris of Universal Records, French label Holy Records and Greek label Sleezey Rider Records as a recording artist and has a couple of collaboration album credits in Europe under her belt. Since relocating to New York, she has been making music independently out of her home studio. Indeed Sky does it all. This self-proclaimed 'computer geek' is equally comfortable programming, engineering, producing, composing, playing drums, writing lyrics or fronting her band, THE SKY BAND. Additionally, Sky has toured extensively throughout Europe and has performed at many well-regarded shows including the European Rock Festival at Lekavitos stadium in Greece, where she was the only female performer selected to participate from 50 European countries. Locally Sky has performed at the Goombay Festival in Miami and was invited on stage to jam with the Black Eyed Peas at one of South Beaches hot spots for an MTV show in 2005. Sky has been featured in publications such as MusiciansOnly.net (Cover and feature article), New Yorks Urban publication 'IMT Styles Magazine' (Ones to watch Issue 5/Volume 1), and South Floridas 'Whats Hot Magazine' (Rockin' Lauderdale Issue 5/Page 27), 'Maelan Magazine' (The Gold Alter Egos Issue, feature article) as well as several mentions in Europe. Sky today is in the words of Musicians Only Magazine "truly a multicultural class act." and in the words of IMT Styles Magazine "One to watch"
