Band Bio: Susanna Kay is a Glam Pop singer, born in Amsterdam. Since she was a little girl she had fallen in love with the performing arts. Growing up in a little town called ‘Laren’, near Amsterdam, she attended different local ballet schools. In her early teenage years she was admitted to Dance Academy Lucia Marthas, here she was able to develop three disciplines: acting, dancing, and singing. She felt she needed to explore the fields of singing and acting more so than dancing, leading to her attendance of several professional acting- and singing schools, parallel to high school.
After finishing high school, she studied Communication Science at the University of Amsterdam and received her BSc. Degree, with a minor in Economics, after three years. After that, she started a masters course Marketing Science at the Free University of Amsterdam and received her MSc. Degree one year later, summer 2007.
Next to her study period she worked for several entertainment and casting agencies as singer, model, dancer and actress. After receiving her MSc. Degree she went to New York to study at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute to learn from the best. This is where she decided she wanted to focus on becoming a professional performer/singer.
The moment she got back in Amsterdam she started attending and organizing open mic nights, working together with musicians to write her own songs, recording tracks and working professionally as a glam pop singer at the Supperclub in Amsterdam. People started to notice her and very soon after that, she was performing at different night clubs and parties around the country.
At the age of 23, Aug '08, she signed a deal with major record label Sony Music. 2009 is the year of writing and producing her debut singles. Susanna Kay recently returned from Kopenhagen, Denmark where she recorded her first two singles with the renown European producers team DeeKay. The tracks are now in the final stages of being mixed and mastered.
