Band Bio: The Routes formed in 2004, in Hita City (Oita, Japan).
In 2006 The Routes signed to Motor Sounds Records , and joined the Motorsounds Records compilation album "Blood On The Scratchplate '65" (MSR001).
In 2006 The routes started recording their debut album Left My Mind. In early 2007 the title track appeared on the Sazanami Label compilation album Wild Sazanami Beat Vol. 4. Shortly after, the band managed to seal a Japanese distribution deal and the album Left My Mind was released in March 2007 on Motor Sounds records. In UK and Europe the album attracted some attention on the underground. There was a special feature on Mike Spenser's Trash Can radio show (London Resonance FM), which included an interview with Toru Nishimuta as he happened to be in London at that time. The album was reviewed on several music sites and magazines worldwide, and was available from online stores worldwide including HMV, Tower Records, Virgin, Jeugia, Soundflat and many more...
For the rest of 2007 the band concentrated on live work mostly in Fukuoka. In May 2007 guitarist/vocalist Chris Jack produced a 7" single for Fukuoka rockabilly/garage act Nervous Wreck entitled Munsters Void.
In early 2008 Shinichi Nakayama joined the band as drummer. The band played mostly US garage covers for the bulk of 2008.
In 2009 the band continued to play live and slowly started to record the original songs they had written.
From the results of those recordings The Routes signed to Dirty Water Records in December 2009.
January 2010 saw the long overdue digital release of Left My Mind on itunes and eMusic.
A single titled Do What's Right By You will be released on Dirty Water Records on February 15th 2010. It will be available as a 7" vinyl single, and as a download. The Routes ar also planning to collaborate with the legendary Count Bishops and Cannibals singer Mike Spenser. Watch this space...
