Genocide

Genocide: (n) the deliberate and systematic extermination of a national, racial, political, or cultural group. (Webster's Dictionary) This is an atrocious crime that should not be allowed to continue in our world. After World War II and the Holocaust, the world made a promise of "Never Again." Never again would we allow such a crime to be commited. Never again would we sit back and do nothing. And yet, since World War II, there has been Cambodia, Rwanda, Darfur and countless others. As a human race, we need to work to keep that promise. According to Article 1 of the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide (which was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly on December 9, 1948), "The Contracting Parties confirm that genocide, whether committed in time of peace or in time of war, is a crime under international law which they undertake to prevent and to punish.." It is important that our promise and this political decree be upheld. If genocides continue to happen, who knows who will be next? All evil needs to win is for good men to do nothing. Because police officers should NOT be allowed to beat and tazer suspects who are already in custody, wether or not they are struggling--especially if the suspect is part of a peaceful protest or assembly!!!

How does it feel to be afraid to go to school every day, because you're being threatened or beaten up? For whatever reason, kids nationwide experience school violence every day. Violence is NEVER the answer. It's up to us to show there are better ways of solving dispute. Make school violence a thing of the past.

Sexual abuse

Sex abuse is the most common crime among Americans. However, only 1 out of 3 of sex abuse cases are actually reported. Why? Because victims of this heinous crime are not believed or they recant or whatever. This happens because people do not educate themselves on this and refuse to believe this can happen. Well guess what. It does and it is a problem. It causes many people pain and suffering and takes away a persons life literally. It even can be a life threatening trauma and can turn out badly. Torture is wrong. Whether it's against humans, animals, or even plants. However barking dogs, interogations, not having rights as a prisoner of war, ect. are not torture...torture involves physical pain.

This cause is a very important one. Domestic violence occurs on a regular basis in many women's lives and they don�t know what to do about it. They get hurt, not only physically but also emotionally and mentally. So stand up and stop the hurt that isn�t necessary!

Violence in the media

I know that violent television shows and movies aren't the only causes of a violent society, but they do make us desensitized. If you watch enough people getting shot and stabbed on TV, after awhile, real-life violence doesn't seem so shocking.
